Self-defense is the use of reasonable force to protect oneself or members of the family from bodily harm from the attack of an aggressor. If the threat involves deadly force, the person defending themselves can use deadly force to counteract the threat. If the threat involves only minor force and the person claiming self-defense uses force that could cause grievous bodily harm or death, the claim of self-defense will fail.

Protecting yourself armed is probably the easiest way, but if you are unarmed, there are many styles of martial arts that are practiced for self-defense or include self-defense techniques. When you are armed there is a wide variety of weapons that can be used for self-defence for example, knives, pepper spray, personal stun guns, and tasers. There are also everyday objects like, baseball bats, kitchen utensils, etc… If you are unarmed, there are some styles train primarily for self-defense, while other martial or combat sports can be effectively applied for self-defense.

Some martial arts train how to escape from a knife or gun situation, or how to break away from a punch, while others train how to attack. An average price for self-defense jiu-jitsu classes is about 140$ per month. Mentality is also a big role that plays with self-defense. Many self-defense schools only focus on being physical but forget that they need to prepare the mind of the victims so they could be ready not only physically but also mentally also. I am happy about how there are many ways of protecting ourselves from getting harmed,  these techniques could be very helpful. I suggest everyone to take self-defense classes to stay protected all the time.

  1. I agree with you a lot Ali! I love to how there is so many ways to protect yourself without using a weapon, I am very interested in martial arts, I plan on eventually taking a class called akito, its a class that strictly shows you how to use other peoples momentum against them. I think its way better than a gun so it wont risk killing the predator.
